Royal LePage agent Brad D’Ornellas, an Ontario-based agent and 2022 Royal LePage National & Ontario Rookie of the Year 2022 award winner, shares his advice for agents looking to level up their business.

As an agent or a soon-to-be agent, you’ve probably heard many people use the phrase “sphere of influence.” This consists of the people you know, both professionally and personally, who may present an opportunity for word-of-mouth marketing, a referral, or even direct business.

“No matter how connected you are, or what your previous experience may be, you already have a rich sphere of influence,” says Brad D’Ornellas, Royal LePage Frank Real Estate in Uxbridge, Ontario. This is sage advice from the 2022 Royal LePage National Rookie of the Year.

We spoke to Brad about his early success in real estate and why he recommends new agents lean in to their personal networks to build a lead pipeline.

What kind of success have you seen so far in your career at Royal LePage?

In 2021, my first year as an agent, I sold over $17M, and I achieved the sales level for the Royal LePage Ruby Award in 2022. I have been one of the top agents in my brokerage, Royal LePage Frank Real Estate, Brokerage, every year, and I have also won my brokerage’s Rookie of the Year award. I was also recognized as the 2022 Royal LePage Ontario & National Rookie of the Year. My next goal is to be a Royal LePage Top 35 under 35 award winner!

What is one piece of advice you would share with a new agent looking to build a successful career?

Focus on your sphere of influence and make sure everyone you know and meet knows you’re in real estate. I made sure to consistently post about my real estate business and what’s happening in the industry on my social media channels from the beginning. You’ll be top of mind for whoever follows you, which increases your chances of generating new business when someone in your network is considering buying or selling.

Social media has also been a fantastic tool for generating leads. I manage my leads in rlpSPHERE, my calendar and my notes app so I don’t forget any details or follow-ups.

If you were chatting with an agent from a competing brand, what are the top three points you would highlight about choosing Royal LePage?

1. Sense of community: There are so many events that bring agents and management teams together, making you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself. This type of culture provides opportunities to easily network and build relationships, which is always beneficial.

2. Training and guidance: I’ve always felt like I have many places to go to whenever I need help, be it from management, other agents, or online resources.

3. Recognizable brand: Being associated with Royal LePage shows potential clients that I am a part of a nationally-recognized and trusted brand, which adds to my credibility as a real estate professional.
