It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Richard Elliot Wood, founder of Royal LePage R.E. Wood Real Estate in Tillsonburg, who sadly passed away on March 4th. Richard was an industry leader and a long-time member of the Royal LePage family.

Richard began his more than five-decade-long real estate career at the young age of 19, and went on to have great success in selling residential, commercial and farm land in Southwestern Ontario. In 1998, he became a Royal LePage franchisee in his hometown of Tillsonburg, but his impact would reach far wider. Richard made invaluable contributions to the real estate industry in Canada, having served as president of both the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).

Richard is remembered by his loved ones for being a generous friend and a caring member of the community. He was known for always wanting to help others, and he is remembered fondly by his peers.

“Richard was a small town real estate icon who made huge contributions on the provincial and national stage. The advice and counsel he provided me early in my time at the helm of Royal LePage was of inestimable value. Richard was a man who never stopped giving back. He will be missed,” said Phil Soper, president and CEO, Royal LePage.

Our sincerest condolences go out to Richard’s wife, children and family, as well as his friends and colleagues, and his entire community during this incredibly difficult time. His dedication to his family and his work are admirable, and he will be greatly missed.
