Colin Clarke, 2022 Royal LePage Prairies Rookie of the Year award winner, shares his advice for up-and-coming agents
We reached out to our 2022 Rookie of the Year award winners to get their best advice for agents who want to level up their business. Here’s our conversation with one of them:
There’s no question that social media has become one of the most powerful marketing tools available to agents. But, coming up with a detailed social media strategy and learning the ins and outs of content creation doesn’t always come easily.
Alberta-based Royal LePage agent Colin Clarke, and winner of the 2022 Rookie of the Year award, shares how he stepped outside of his comfort zone last year to level up his social media marketing and has words of wisdom for rookie agents looking to do the same.
You’ve made it a goal to improve your social media marketing and engagement this year. What advice would you give to an agent looking to do the same?
1. Follow other REALTORS® so you can observe and learn from their social media strategies. There are many agents with innovative ideas — let their content inspire and guide you.
2. Dedicate time and consistency to really shine on social media. There is a learning curve to creating and delivering information that is exciting and valuable to your audience.
3. Social media is ever-evolving every day. Evolve with it and stay current with changes on the various platforms.
What tools have you leaned on to navigate rapid success early on in your career?
Royal LePage has a strong team and a large network of connections, and I have taken full advantage of the learning opportunities that come with networking. Lean on your broker/manager or other experienced agents for advice and information. I’ve also found it very helpful to rely on a day planner or task manager. I was definitely not prepared for the sheer amount of items an agent must follow up on every day and my planner helps me stay organized and on top of my goals.
What’s one piece of advice you would share with a rookie agent looking to build a successful career?
You can’t build a successful career without your clients. It’s important to treat every client with care, and care for them well. Your most valuable resource is always going to be your time — go the extra mile and people will remember you for that.
