Royal LePagers from across Canada recently raised an unprecedented $125,000 in support of the company’s charity, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. The fundraising efforts took place at the company’s National Sales Conference, held in Las Vegas, Nevada between September 19 and 22.

To kick off the conference, a group known as the Royal LePage Riders Club took part in the ‘Ride for Shelter,’ a two-day motorcycle ride from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon partly along historic Route 66. Royal LePage president, Phil Soper was among the riders. The event raised over $18,000 with new rider, Tracey Flanigan of Royal LePage Burloak Real Estate Services in Burlington, ON proudly taking home bragging rights as top fundraiser.
Winnipeg’s Garry, Becky and Brad Parkes of Royal LePage Dynamic Real Estate organized another popular pre-conference event that saw 90 Royal LePagers take a ‘Foodies for Shelter’ tour along the Las Vegas strip. The Parkes Team made a generous donation to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation in honor of each foodie who joined them on the tour.
Funds continued to pour in over the remainder of the conference.  The live auction, overseen by Kent Browne of Royal LePage Team Realty in Ottawa, raised nearly $68,000 in just over an hour. Bidders were also generous in the silent auction, and in purchasing ‘Heads or Tails for Shelter’ buttons which entered them in a coin toss contest that preceded the live auction. With a matching gift from Rick Preston, broker/owner of Royal LePage Dynamic Real Estate in Winnipeg, ‘Heads or Tails for Shelter’ raised more than $16,000.

“I’m grateful to everyone who took part in fundraising activities at the National Sales Conference,” says Shanan Spencer-Brown, Executive Director of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. “I’m always inspired by the generosity of our agents and brokers who donate items to our auctions, creating an exciting and competitive atmosphere, all for a good cause.”
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to supporting women’s shelters and ending violence against women and children. Because Royal LePage covers the foundation’s administrative costs, 100 per cent of all money raised benefits the cause. Fundraising proceeds from the Royal LePage National Sales Conference will be directed towards long-term violence prevention and education programs for youth, helping boys and girls learn how to develop healthy relationships and build lives free from abuse.
