Royal LePage® is pleased to share that Phil Soper has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for The Realty Alliance (TRA), an exclusive network of North America’s largest full-service real estate brokerages.

As the only Canadian to serve on the Board, Soper will represent the perspective and priorities of Canada’s real estate market among the continent’s most influential firms. His appointment reflects Royal LePage’s expanding presence and leadership in advancing innovation, collaboration, and professionalism across the North American real estate industry.

“The real estate industry is in a period of profound change,” said Soper. “Consumers are demanding better experiences, regulatory environments are shifting, and technology and data ownership have become strategic imperatives. The Realty Alliance brings together the firms most capable of shaping what comes next – and I’m honoured to help lead that conversation.”

The Realty Alliance is an organization composed of many of the largest and most progressive residential real estate firms in the United States and Canada. Representing more than 100,000 agents, the group is recognized for advancing brokerage leadership, shaping industry standards, and driving innovation in technology, data management, and agent experience.

Soper succeeds outgoing Chair Michael Scarafile, CEO of Carolina One Real Estate, and will work closely with TRA’s long-serving CEO Craig Cheatham to continue strengthening broker advocacy and collaboration across North America.

“Phil understands both the business realities of brokerage leadership and the responsibility we have to strengthen the communities we serve,” said Cheatham. “TRA will benefit from his strategic vision, his operational experience, and his strong belief in collaboration.”

Widely recognized as one of the most influential executives in North American real estate, Soper was ranked number one in Canada and 12th overall in the 2025 Swanepoel Power 200, marking his twelfth consecutive year as Canada’s top real estate leader. He has also appeared on Inman’s Power Players list since its inception in 2023, recognizing the industry’s most powerful and innovative leaders, and was the first Canadian to receive the Real Estate Leadership Award at the U.S. National Realtor Expo, honouring industry visionaries who “blaze new paths”.
