What it takes to build a top 1% real estate team: Scott Faber of The Faber Group shares his approach

Scott Faber shares how The Faber Group built a top-performing real estate business through structure and long-term relationships.

When building a successful real estate business, it’s easy to assume more hours and constant hustle are the answer.

For Scott Faber of Royal LePage® Coast Capital Realty in Victoria, B.C., and team lead of The Faber Group, the opposite has proven true.

“I am typically working fewer hours than I have in the past, yet my gross income continues to increase year after year,” he says.

The difference comes down to intention. By structuring each day around high-impact activities and staying disciplined with his time, Scott has helped build a team that operates with purpose. That approach has contributed to The Faber Group’s recognition among the top 1% of Royal LePage® agents.

Building a business with structure and purpose

From the start, Scott has focused on creating consistency, both in his own work and across The Faber Group.

Rather than reacting to the day as it unfolds, each day is planned in advance with dedicated time for prospecting, client communication and follow-ups. This structure ensures that nothing important is missed and that every client interaction is thoughtful and prepared.

“I run my day with intention rather than letting it run me,” he explains.

That preparation extends across the team and translates into a better experience for clients, who receive clear guidance and confident advice without unnecessary stress or uncertainty.

From networking events to a 250+ unit development partnership

While systems play an important role, relationships have been just as critical to The Faber Group’s growth.

A defining moment came in 2019, when Scott and his father began hosting their own business networking events. Rather than focusing on transactions, the goal was to build meaningful connections within their community.

That approach led to a key relationship with a developer, which resulted in a 60-unit condominium project. Over time, that partnership expanded significantly, with more than 250 units sold together.

“That experience reinforced my belief that consistency, preparation and relationship-building are what ultimately create opportunity,” he says.

From a two-person partnership to a scalable team model

Being part of a family-led business has also shaped how Scott approaches leadership within The Faber Group.

Learning from his father, a top-performing agent with more than 20 years of experience, gave him a strong foundation early on. Today, that knowledge is being shared across the team.

“He helped me achieve in 10 years what took him two decades,” he says. “Now, I’m helping others achieve in 5 years what took me 10.”

By passing on proven systems, strategies and insights, Scott continues to support the team’s development while strengthening the business as a whole.

The philosophy that guides every client experience

A few years ago, Scott and The Faber Group took time to define what truly sets them apart.

The result was a simple but meaningful philosophy: “Building Relationships, One Home at a Time.”

Rather than focusing on short-term transactions, the team prioritizes long-term relationships. Every interaction is approached with care, preparation and a commitment to helping clients feel confident in their decisions.

Giving back through business

For Scott, success is about more than performance metrics.

Through The Faber Group’s involvement with the Royal LePage® Shelter FoundationTM, each transaction contributes to supporting women and children fleeing domestic violence.

“Every sale becomes an opportunity to support something bigger,” he says.

By integrating philanthropy into the business, the team ensures their work has a meaningful impact beyond real estate.

Delivering consistent results in any market

Market conditions may change, but Scott’s approach remains steady.

“I always focus on the opportunities in the market rather than the obstacles,” he says.

By maintaining a positive mindset and staying disciplined across all areas of life, from business to personal habits, he ensures The Faber Group is consistently operating at a high level. That consistency allows the team to guide clients with clarity, regardless of market conditions.

Building The Faber Group on family values and long-term vision

One of the most meaningful parts of Scott’s journey has been building The Faber Group alongside his father.

What started as a shared vision has grown into a values-driven team grounded in trust, discipline and relationships. Those same values continue to shape how they work with clients and support one another.

For professionals looking to build a long-term career in real estate, being part of a collaborative and supportive network can make all the difference.
