Royal LePage Advance brought the spotlight to Campbell River, BC at their 1st Annual Salmon Derby held on June 11.  More than $20,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, including a $5,000 cash prize to first place winner Cody Johnstone.

More than 700 fishers attended the inaugural event and 70 fish were weighed in at Robert Ostler Park, which was bustling all day with kids’ activities, food trucks and a silent auction.

A grand total of $44,800 was raised and split between two local charities, the Campbell River Salmon Foundation and local women’s shelter, Ann Elmore Transition House, via the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

“Everyone at Royal LePage Advance is so impressed with how the event came together and feels like the countless hours of planning were rewarded by the response from our community,” says Stephen Grant, president at Royal LePage Advance. “We’re proud to contribute the incredible fundraising total to these two very deserving local charities and look forward to making this an annual event.”
