More than 80 participants joined Royal LePage Gardiner Realty in Fredericton, N.B. at the company’s second annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event, held on Sunday, Sept. 13. More than $18,000 was raised for their efforts as they took to the streets in bright red heels to raise awareness about sexualized violence against women.

The funds support the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, 100% of which will be donated to local women’s shelter, Women in Transition House. This impressive total has the organizing committee led by Glenis Mahaney setting their sights on a $25,000 goal for next years’ event.

Special guests included Steve Horsman, who is Member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, Bob Powell (mayor of Oromocto) and local firefighters who paired their high heels with full gear and led the men on their mile-long walk.

“Royal LePage Gardiner Realty has been giving back to the community since 1970 and we’re proud to continue this tradition with this annual walk,” said broker/owner Lincoln Thompson. “Our large and keen organizing committee is testament to our agents’ and staff’s dedication to help improve the fabric of our community and eliminate family violence.”
